As wildfire season approaches, Extension Fire Department reminds all residents to take proactive steps in protecting their homes and properties.
One of the simplest—and most effective—ways to reduce fire risk is to clean your roof and gutters. Over time, moss, dry leaves, needles, and other debris can build up. These materials are highly flammable and can ignite from embers during a wildfire.
Here’s what you can do:
- ✅ Remove moss and organic debris from your roof.
- ✅ Clear out gutters and downspouts.
- ✅ Trim overhanging branches and keep roofs free of fuel buildup.
These small actions make a big difference in keeping your home and our community safe.
Let’s all do our part to be FireSmart.
